I, too, prefer the type life that you like. Our situation (we are in Mobile) is that we will not live full-time at the lake until my son goes to college (3rd grade now). When he leaves the nest is also the same time that I will be eligible to retire with 25 yrs in with the state. We own a lot now in Columbine but I cannot fathom maintaining a house from 220 miles away for 9+ years. The condos would help solve that problem. I'm not crazy about a condo either (my wife is VERY interested) but I have a hard time stomaching the cabin rental fees each time we stay at the lake. I figure we could always sell the condo when we are ready to build.
