I don't doubt Bush said it but based on what I have heard I don't buy it that any of this is true. If it was such a great piece of legislation why did 95 Dems vote no? All Bush and Pelosi needed was support from Democrats as they control Congress. Someone needs to explain to me why those 95 Dems voted no.

My guess is they know their constituency hates the idea of this bailout and wanted to be able to vote no while Republicans would help carry the water on this bill. What a turn of events where Bush is aligned with Pelosi/Reid against a bunch of Republicans and Democrats.
