Here is a the results of a poll that demonstrates what a train wreck the vaccine messaging is.  And this comports with my experience with people about the vaccines.  Having to wear a mask and social distance after having been vaccinated implies the vaccine does not work.  And forget all the nonsense about variants....there is zero data to show this is a real concern.  In essence, if the CDC would tell Americans they no longer need to wear masks or social distance there would be a second rush on vaccines. 

And yes, Republicans are more wary of the vaccine than Democrats.  Is that any surprise?  We can think independently from what the govt tells us.  We understand the inherent risks of the virus and the uncertainty associated with mRNA-based vaccines and are more cautious.  But even over half of Republicans that have not been vaccinated would do so if they were told no masks and social distancing.  Why you ask?  Because they are sick of the restrictions to our liberties and hearing no masks and social distancing means that the CDC actually believes the vaccines work.  If we knew they worked we would be more likely to take on the risk of some adverse effect.  In essence, the reward outweighs the risk.  We already know how unlikely it is that we will die from the virus if we are younger or do not have co-morbidities.  We don't know the long-term impact of the vaccines and are not willing as yet to take the chance we will be one of the unlucky ones and have an adverse reaction.  Tell us the vaccines work with the logical conclusion that if you are vaccinated you no longer need masks or social distancing.  Trust me, it will work.  And if in fact variants do happen to pop up they can always reinstate the measures for the vaccinated.
