I signed on for DISH as soon as I heard that they offered the local channels. When they came to install it, the tech looked around and said "You can't get locals here." I asked why not, since I had the clear line of site that their website said I needed, and he just said that there were too many obstacles. When I told him I didn't want the system if I couldn't get the local channels he hemmed and hawed and made a few phone calls, but when all was said and done he left without installing anything. There were a few tense moments when the DISH office tried to make me adhere to the two-year commitment, but I told them "You can't meet the obligation you promised."

SO my word of warning is: even though DISH offers local channels, make sure you can actually get them at your house before you sign anything.
